With "The Ocean, Our Bright Future" as its theme, the Okinawa International Ocean Exposition was opened in Motobu Town in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa on July 20, 1975. On January 18, 1976, 183 days later, the exposition had totaled approximately 3,500,000 visitors.
