The Kadeshiga Legend

In the Ozato area of present day Itoman City there was an abundant small river called Kadeshiga. The following legend is told about this place.
Kadeshiga was known among the farming folk of Nanzan as a river which brought blessings and was a reliable source of much needed water. Sho Hashi, later to conquer Chuzan and become king, offered the rather greedy Nanzan king Tarumi a golden folding screen in exchange for this water source. Tarumi was glad to make the exchange but it caused a problem for those that used the spring, the farming folk of Ozato.
Sho Hashi then allowed only those that followed him use of the spring, which of course meant that the people of the area soon began to support Sho Hashi. King Tarumi, having lost the trust of the people, was soon easily defeated by Sho Hashi.
