On November
3, 1992 the Seiden (Main Hall), heavily bombarded and
turned into ashes by U.S. armed forces during the war,
was restored along with the Nanden (South Hall) and
the Hokuden (North Hall) in commemoration of the reversion's
20-year anniversary. With a 500-year history and having
burned down four times, today's Shuri Castle is a replica
of the castle restored in 1712 and designated a national
treasure in 1925.
