Starting August 23, 1990, the Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival was held for four days mainly at the Okinawa Convention Center in Ginowan City. More than 2,000 descendants of Okinawan emigrants attended the event, among which were a hundred Goodwill Ambassadors selected by the prefecture along with other special guests.
