The 1,045-meter long Ginama Tunnel, completed in 1983, was built as a special project in commemoration of the reversion's 10-year anniversary. Called the "road home," its rough spots were addressed, contributing to improved daily life for the region's inhabitants and helping develop regional industry, economy and tourism.
