The historical Great Tug-of-War was revived on October 10 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Naha City. Until then the event was held irregularly during national or prefectural celebrations. The rope currently used is the largest in Japan with a length of 160 meters and a weight of 20 tons. More than 200,000 visitors take part every year.
