On June 19, 1960 President Eisenhower, on his way to a tour of Asia, stopped in Okinawa. With pro-reversion demonstrators and armed soldiers every meter on both sides of the road, President Eisenhower paraded from Kadena Air Base to the Government of Ryukyu Islands.
