At the age of 19, Kin started receiving lessons in classical music and by
24 was proficient enough to act as an assistant teacher. His name is well
known among Okinawan musicians regardless of their school or style of
music.
Kin's was a diverse genius, his skills ranged from instruments such as the
Sou, Chinese fiddle, and flute to the mastery of such arts as Ryukyuan
Dance, horsemanship, and martial arts. In 1900, he performed before
Shigenobu Okuma, the influential Meiji era
political leader. In 1936, Kin recorded 16 songs for Columbia Records. He
was a talented musician who explored individual style within Ryukyuan
classical music
