Formed by university friends in November 1996, Jigokuguruma began with a "Fighting Skills" style motif. They are one of the most prominent hardcore rock bands from Okinawa. Using the live music pubs in Urasoe City as their base, they put out a diverse performance style that transcends genres. In January 1999, their first album " Jigokuguruma " was released and hit number one on the Okinawan sales charts. Subsequently the album sold over 7,000 copies in about a month in mainland Japan and the album has hit the top ten on the independent label charts in all regions of the country. Right now they are creating a sensation throughout Japan. Their latest album "Jigoku Tsuki" was released on November 5,1999.
