This band was formed around Shokichi Kina in 1971. Kina's father was the well-known Okinawan singer Shoei Kina. Managing a live music bar near the military bases in Koza with his father, Shokichi received his baptism in rock music. Seasoned with a native Shimauta beat, Kina creates truly original music. His album "Shokichi Kina and Champloos" debuted his music on mainland Japan in 1977. Kina's hits include "Haisai Ojisan" and "Hana". His other albums include "Bloodline", "Rainbow Movement", and "Hinukan". The song "Hana" is a huge hit in many Southeast Asian countries.
