One scene from 14 depictions of singing and dancing. This is a drawing of court dance and music of the Ryukyus performed by emissaries from the Ryukyu court in front of Shogun Tokugawa and his subjects in 1832. Instruments from China and the Sanshin (Okinawan samisen) were played to accompany songs and dances. The dancers were all young men and the women's parts were also danced by men in costume.
