Blue Cotton Tijima Fretted Kasuri Costume
Tijima is a weaving technique wherein the Kasuri pattern is enclosed within frets. This piece was woven for the samurai class in Shuri. In the frets two threads are twisted together and woven in a style known as Mudi. In this type of clothing, red and white was used for ceremonial occasions and blue and white was used for Buddhist memorial services and everyday use.
