1765 Occurrence of large earthquake, many stone walls and houses are destroyed in Tamagusuku magiri district.
1771 Tsunami occurrence on the Sakishima Islands. 11,861 people lose their houses in Miyako and Yaeyama Island. Epidemic outbreak in Shimajiri causes the death of many.
1772 More than 4,560 people of Yaeyama Island die because of disasterous winds, drought and epidemics.
1774 Snow mixed with rain falls in subtropical Okinawa
1776 Great famine in Yaeyama. 3733 fatalities from plagues
1785 Mission sent to Satsuma for relief provisions of rice.
1802 Long drought 425 fatalities from epidemics on Yaeyama. Snow and hail fall on Kume-jima.
1816 Famine causes 1563 fatalities.
1825 Heavy winds and drought cause famine. Stockpiled grain is distributed but proved insufficient as many died of starvation.
1827 Fourth straight year of famine. 3,358 people starve to death. Storehouse of the kingdom provides rice porridge to the needy.
1832 Heavy winds and droughts cause the death of 2455 people starve to death. Outbreak of disease. 1473 deaths. Hail falls in Kin Magiri district.
1835 Epidemic of rubella on Yaeyama
1838 Rubella outbreak on Yaeyama, 636 deaths, other diseases cause 1996 deaths.
1843 Snow and hail fall on Shimajiri
1844 Violent winds on Miyako kill five and 2,180 homes are destroyed.
1852 Large-scale famine on Miyako results in 3,000 deaths.
1853 Fever outbreak on Miyako and Kume Island causes many deaths.
1879 Cholera outbreak strikes 11,200 of which 6,400 die.
