This Gusuku was constructed on the Ryukyuan limestone hills to the northeast of present day Urasoe City. According to tradition the ancestors of King Eiso resided here and King Eiso was born in the castle. Excavations have gathered Gusuku and Sueki type earthenware and imported ceramic artifacts. In 1961 it was designated as a Prefectural Historical Monument by Okinawa Prefecture. Photograph by Bughouse Ltd. |
