Sherds of Cobalt Blue and White China
Excavated from Katsuren Castle Ruins
Floral patterns in brilliant cobalt blue are painted on white porcelain. These sherds come from the pottery made during China's Yuan Dynasty. Much of this pottery came to Okinawa from the middle 14th to middle 15th centuries as part of the bustling exchange during the Age of Great Trade.
