Sashiki Yodore Mausoleum
This is the family mausoleum of Sho Shiso, the father of Sho Hashi, unifier of the three kingdoms. Yodore means a place of eternal quietness and carries the meaning of tomb. It is said that Sho Shiso was the child of the powerful ruler Samekawa Ufunushi, who moved from Izena Gusuku to Sashiki, and the daughter of Chieftain Ufugusuku Aji. The front of the tomb is around 3m with a depth of 2.6m and the height of the eaves is 2m. The roof is semi-circular in structure. The tomb was originally located in the southern part of Sashiki but was moved to its present location in 1764. In 1958 it was designated a Cultural Property by Okinawa Prefecture.
