Orokubaka Tomb
This is an ancient style tomb located in Ginowan City. The tomb lies on the lower part of a cliff and the front wall is faced with piled Ryukyuan limestone. An inscription on the sarcophagus inside the tomb is the oldest existent historical artifact of Japanese Hiragana writing in Okinawa. It is thought this is the tomb of a high ranking official in the Ryukyu Kingdom who ruled over the area known as Oroku during the reign of King Sho Shin (1477-1526).
