Izena-joseki Castle Ruins
The ruins of this castle are located on Izena-jima Island. It was built on the east coast of the island on a promontory which juts 97.8 meters above sea level. According to local folklore, the lord of Iheya-jima Island, Yagura-Ufunushi, had his son, Samegawa-Ufunush,i build this castle from which he then ruled the area. In 1958, it was designated as a Historical Site by Okinawa Prefecture.
