The first
G8 Summit (Meeting of Heads of State and Government)
in Japan not held in Tokyo began July 21, 2000 for three
days at Nago City's Bankoku Shinryo Hall. Several world
problems were discussed and it ended with the G8 declaration's
adoption. The world's eyes concentrated on Okinawa with
the media widely introducing the island through the
base problem and its traditional culture.
