@A typical Ryukyuan circular footed tray. The rising border and pedestal are both curved. The exposed surfaces are cinnabar-lacquered, and the inside of the pedestal stand is coated with black lacquer. The centre of the tray is undecorated. From the tray rim down, the outside surface is gilt line engraved, with a design of the Ryukyu royal crest, the left-tomoe, and peony sprays over a circular diaper ground. The short tails of the tomoe and the relatively slight degree of overlap in the diaper ground are design characteristics of late period Rykukyuan lacquerware.
