@A rectangular desk, with the thickish top raised from the apron and rounded petal-shaped legs by a pedestal framework.
@The surfaces are cinnabar-lacquered, except the underside which is black-lacquered. The centre of the table top depicts peonies, chrysanthemums, long-tailed birds and kingfishers in litharge painting, with pieces of quite thick white shell in places.
@The edges of the shell, outlines of the design and the peony leaves are picked out in gold leaf. The border and edges of the top surface are decorated with floral scrolls on a green lacquer ground, and the sides of the rectangular frame and table with flower sprays in mother-of-pearl and gold leaf.
@The litharge painting, mother-of-pear‚Œ Iinlay and gold leaf combine to give the design its air of opulence.
